GLENVIEW FARMER'S MARKET

Glenview, Saturdays Jun 18 - Oct 15, Mornings

Love to eat healthy? Want to support 'Buying Local'? Do you want first pick of the fabulous produce, meats, cheeses and flowers at the Glenview Farmer's Market? Want to learn more about sustainable agriculture? Come volunteer at the market and you can do all that and more! The Glenview Farmers' Market at Historic Wagner Farm is looking for energetic volunteers to help out on occasional Saturday mornings, mid-June through mid-October. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least four Saturdays in a season.
*requirements: 16+, commitment of 4 Saturdays, able to lift 30lbs

NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY

Lincoln Park, Chicago, Saturday Sept. 24 at 10 am

The Lincoln Park Conservancy hosts a National Public Lands Day event at the North Pond Nature Sanctuary each September. National Public Lands Day is an annual, single-day volunteer effort held at thousands of public sites across America. At North Pond, volunteers help restore the area by planting wildflowers, mulching trees, picking up litter, sowing wildflower seed, or assisting with erosion projects. BECOME A CLIMATE CHANGE AMBASSADOR

All of Illinois (and all Great Lakes States), work from home

As a Climate Change Ambassador for Nature Abounds, you will reach out to new audiences about climate change, the changes that have already occurred in your area and the changes that are expected to happen as well as ways that people can help adapt to the changes. Responsibilities include:
- Distributing information about climate change to audiences in your local area, either through email, mail, tabling events, or in-person
- Keeping up on climate and happenings through Nature Abounds, social media, news articles, etc....
- Reporting back to Nature Abounds on your outreach

BACKYARD NATURE CENTER VOLUNTEER OPP

Skokie Lagoons, Saturday Aug. 13, 10am-1:30pm

Come help us continue our stewardship progress at Skokie Lagoons! Work will concentrate on cutting buckthorn in the area. Gloves, tools, and snacks will be provided. No prior experience is necessary. If conditions permit, we will burn a brushpile. For safety, any children age 13 and under must be accompanied by a guardian. The work site is located on the north side of Tower Road between the Edens Expressway and Forestway Drive. BIKE GLENVIEW

Glenview, Aug. 21 1:00-3:00pm

Bike from Blue Star Memorial Woods in Glenview to the Skokie Lagoons and back with Friends of the Forest Preserves! We will stop for a snack at the lagoons and chat about the ecology of the preserves we have just traveled through. Meet at the Blue Star Memorial parking lot for a prompt departure at 1pm. The ride will last about 1.5 to 2 hours round trip. This event is free, but you must register to attend. Please take a moment now to register in order to save your spot:
